Not really, there can be a benefit from the SEM point of view, as there can be a improvement in rendering time in a browser, just not a significant one from the crawl and index POV.

Done this with two sites, taken a table based design and changed the template to an all HTML/CSS.
In both cases nothing changed in the database data and beyond the usual movements nothing remarkable happened in the SERPs either.
