Seems like nitpicking to me. Everything that has any kind of human involvement will have some kind of bias in it. Yeah it's true that a human being added their own bias when programming the search engine, but if we're going to look at that as biased then find me something a human being was involved in that isn't biased.

I don't agree with that. I know for a fact that Google is not biased and I don't believe any of the rest are either. Google delivers results based on backlinks and relevance. They are not biased

The point of a good search engine to be bias isn't it?
Other wise it would just display a random set of results.

The google algo is designed to display good sites first, and rubbish sites later.

I believe bias exists in everything to some degree, however I believe the authors of this study are only engaging in mathmatical theory as this "bias" would not help or hurt us in any way.

if a person is going to visit websites and rank them, then surely he will show bias.
a computer algo runs on certain principles and they cant show any bias.
