I have a ton of spiders crawling my site daily. Does that mean my PR will go up? Or is it just doing some sort of indexing?

The spiders gather information on your site and bring it back to be sorted out and indexed, in the search engine. Its like a 3 step process and spiders finding your site is the first part.

Having alot of spiders on your site is a good thing and could mean your site is updated frequently and also they are finding their way from incoming links.

I dont think it has anything to do with PR directly.

Spiders are crawling your site. That is great. NEVER stop that. If a spider keeps coming back it means it likes your site. Keep your content updated and add lots of new quality content and give the somethign to index. Spiders will index your pages to be listed in the serps. Which means if you block them from indexing your site chances are your search engine results will drop.

Your PR is effected by spiders because they will come from a site that has just added a link to your site. The spider will make a note of this and your PR could change because of it

i think your site has got some good high PR backlinks.
just as written in the above replies, if your site is frequently spidered, it will have many advantages.
if you make any changes/modifications to your site, it will soon be reflected in the search engines.

Yes, spiders will help increase your sites rank and hopefully get you more traffic and visitors comming.

The spiders are just crawling your site to check on your pages and see if they need to be re-indexed or to look for new pages on your site to add to the index.

Your site doesn't gain PR by a visit and it doesn't mean your site will show up higher in rank because the spiders crawled your site. If you're adding new pages to your site then a spider visit could result in higher PR for some pages as the new pages might be linking to other pages on your site. The new pages can now be found in search results because the search engines know about it.

It's not the spider that's raising PR or improving ranking. It's the other things you're doing on your site or the links you're gaining from other sites that will be doing one or the other. Spiders are generally a good thing though because you do want your pages indexed and if you make changes to your pages you do want search engines to know about those changes.

Any PR boost or ranking improvement might be seen after spider's visit, but it's not the spider that caused either. The spider will just have recorded things.
