Some times automatic link exchange totally random, listing of website not going to provide any targeted traffic.
You can waste your time and energy.
I am not getting any good result from automatic link exchange system.

I'd advise always staying away from automatic link exchanges. There aren't quick ways to the top of the SERPs, but there are some pretty quick ways to wake up one morning and find yourself out of the SERPs completely. Automated link exchanges can help you get to the bottom fast.

I don't know much about either since I generally avoid all link exchange companies. What is that you think makes them better than the others?
I don't really believe any will help long term with a site, but I'm always open to different opinions and being proven wrong. Always happy to learn something new.

link-vault has a great verification method. each site is checked manually (and automatticaly on some things). It works fine for me and it gives me some good backlinks.
coop gives super high impressions to me (30 a day for 0 coop weight and 300,000 for 5,000 coop weight which is easy for a normal pr 5 site), but their verification isn't very secure.
manually works best in the long term, but these programs are good if you want much visitors fast

I think my question would be do they send qualified visitors. Do those visitors ever convert into sales? I tend to think the traffic sites like these send doesn't really lead to anything beyond the the numbers you see in your stats package. Like I said though I'm open to new thoughts.
What have you found about the traffic and whether or not it leads to sales?

vangogh, i never had sites where i sold things, only information, blogs and community sites.
yes it helped a lot. when i started using those programs, i got hundreds of clicks from them (i already had a high weight on both of them ). my CTR was around 2% that time, but with 300,000 impressions and around 3,000 clicks a day, those programs give me 60 clicks a day which is good enough for me (i earned the weight on different sites so i had free advertisement)
it didn't help good with my community site... they just didn't sign up
i guess those programs are best for MFA (or not MFA but content) and blog sites.

dwirken that makes a lot of sense. Sometimes with AdSense or other contextual ads actually getting people is the trick. If they're not targeted to your site it might even be better since that just increases the chance they'll click on one of the ads.

yes indeed. they don't look at your site's content, so they see the ads and (hopefully) click on them, because there's no other way to go to

Quite possibly yes.
If they see you getting too many inbound links, particularly unrelated ones, it will flag your site.

Link exchanges are not relative in google any longer. Using them won't hurt you unless you link to a bad site. But they will not help your rankings positively.
Link farms are now allowed by google and if you link to one your rankings will drop or you may get banned.

You can't really control who links to you and for the most part links from other sites to yours won't hurt regardless of where those links are from. It's mostly going to be the links to other sites that you have on your site that will get you in toruble. It's when you link back to a bad neighborhood that Google will decide you're involving yourself in something solely for the purpose of manipulating rankings.
Most of the bad links to your site will just be ignored so while they may not hurt they're probably not going to help either.

Yes positive. A guy submitted my site to about 150 link farms. My rankings haven't dropped but if I linked to them they would. But mind you they didn't do any good for me either. Link farms should be stayed away from but a one-way link to your site from one will not hurt you or anyone could ruin your rankings just by submitting your site to a link farm.

But your site can get a lot of backlinks and you can have no control over it. I heard you cant be harmed by backlinks pointing to you.

Vigor it's true you don't always have control over who links to you, but in this case the automatic software is setting up link exchanges so you would also be linking out to those other sites.
It's also true that if your overall link profile is not very strong then you can be affected by having a lot of spammy sites linking to you. The best defense is to get more of the good kinds of links from trusted sources related to your site.
