A few points I have been thinking & looking for answers from the SEO perspective:
1. When getting backlinks, it's often said, "get quality links". Here, is quality referring to PageRank of the that link or relevance of it's content to mine? A combination of these two in one link is, undoubtedly, the best. But individually what potential do they have: - A PageRank link with content not necessarily relevant to mine.
- A site with good content which is directly relevant to mine but no PageRank.
2. This brings forth another question. I have seen sites with good PR. However, the same PR is not reflected on their 'links' page (sometimes there is no PR for that page). Does google treat that 'links' page with same respect as it does for the homepage of that site which has a good PR?
a.) Is the PageRank assigned to a particular page or is it for the website?
b.) If the PR is page-specific, would it be considered a quality link exchange in the scenario where the PR of links page is not as much (or nothing) when compared to the site's other pages?
3. A slightly different question is: How long do most of these directories keep the submitted sites for?
Will appreciate some insight.
Thanks
