Ok I'm trying to get my site higher on the google listing for the term christian search . I have the term listed several times on my site and a paragraph at the bottom with it as well. I have virtually all but maybe 2-3 sites that are listed higher than me for this term linking to me. Suggestions on what I can do? Mind you I did download a list of the first 1000 linking in sites to the first site that is listed for my term and am contacting all of them about linking to my site as well.

using the term "christian search" in anchor text would be a good idea, Like in your signature on here and any other links you get.

But also vary the anchor text. Too much of a good thing isn't always a good thing. Google is liking sites more and more that appear not to be optiized. So yes use 'christian search' in anchor text, but also use variations in anchor text too.

Mostly though just keep at it building links. Havng links just from the sites ahead of you in the results won't be enough. Look at who links to them and try to get links from those sites. Also look for other sites that don't link to your competition and try to get links there too. Look for quality over quntity in links, but do look for a quantity of quality links.

It can simply be a matter of time. SEO doesn't happen over night so stick with it.
