I'm wondering if the following example would have a positive effect on the destination domain:

EG:
chairs.com redirects to mobyschairs.com

or would that have no effect on SEO? Would it be better to make a webpage/site for 'chairs.com' and have links to mobyschairs.com?

Remember the domains used are fictional.

What does your 'chairs.com' serve as? Since there's no content, you might as well use 'chairs.com' as an add-on domain so that people will go to 'mobychairs.com' when they go to 'chairs.com'.

What I'm asking is, if I set a domain that had a keyword in to redirect to the main site, would the SEO rating on the main site be boosted by the domain that has the keyword or would it be better to put a basic site on the domain of the keyword domain and have links to the main site?
