How I should show the posts in the frontpage
Showing ads on the frontpage.

Adding up details !!

Ahem...Well, I've a blog on webmaster resources. I'm utterly doubtful about how to place my blog posts in the frontpage. What I'm doing now is, minising the length of the post and showing only the first paragraph in the frontpage so that the page wont be too crowded. But, I've seen that a bunch visitors(only few,ok ?) just dont even see the "Read more" link. I surfed a lotta other good blogs for an answer to my question. I found that some of them are showing the full edition newest post in the frontpage and others are still limited to the 1st paragraphs. I show 10 posts in the frontpage and I definintely write long posts !! So, what shold I do ? My problem is that I place the ADs between the post when blogging and never in the frontpage as I think it can ruin the professionality of the frontpage.

Well, that dragges me to my other question. Should I show ADs in my frontpage ? I'm using adsense and it definitely looks really old and dull. But, I'm not recieving anything more that $1.50 per week but I post almost everyday. I used to get $1 per day with my old blog at blogger. Since its blogger, I dont have an option to show it between the posts and there is not much a concept of subpages and all. Its old and boring. And, most importantly, I'm using Wordpress.

I'm really confused about what I should do now. Pls tell me your opinions

The choice of how to display the posts on your main page is really up to you and I think it comes down to personal choice. On my own blog I list the full text for the most recent post and then the first paragraph of the next 9 most recent posts. I thought displaying the complete text of all 10 posts was just too much for one page, especially as I tend to write longer posts. I decided to display the full text from the most recent post so anyone who entered the blog through it's main page would have one post to read.

I've seen as many different ways of displaying the posts on the single page as there are ways to display them.

Againg I'd say it's up to you about the Adsense. I don't currently have ads on the main page, but do within the posts themselves. It's just the way I decided to have them. Is it the best way? I really don't know.

One thing about running ads on sites with a technical audience is that tech savvy people tend to click less on ads than non-tech savvy people. You'll generally get a lower CTR on a tech related site. Was the blog at blogger also technical?

There are really a lot of reasons why you might be making less now than you were at blogger. Do you get less traffic to the new blog? Are there more or less ads and are those ads in different locations than they were? How well do the ads blend into the current blog as compared to when you were at blogger?

As fas as being able to get ads into the posts check out the AdSense Deluxe plugin for WordPress. It makes it very easy to add AdSense to your posts. I think there's another similar plugin (maybe more), but I don't recall their names off the top of my head.

Well, thank you for replying to my post. Its been here for ages and no replies. Well, about the blog placement. I really like your system of showing the full version of the recent post. But, it happens that I also use Adsense-Deluxe to place ADs between my posts. And, my blog is my index page. So, as I told, it may detoriate my professionality.

My blogger blog was also on the same topic. About SEO, Website Promotion and all. But, I did include stuff about general internet stuff like posts about Firefox and all. And, one main difference is that, I placed my ADs on the right panel other that the body of the post. I didnt blend it to the design. I kept it as such bcuz my theme was difficult to blend. The startling fact is that my ADs where placed a little lower in the page and still got about $105 in 5 weeks. I didnt do that much SEO. Content on my new site is much better when it comes to "keeping it tidy"

Have any idea ? Or do you think google offers more revenue to webmasters using blogger inorder to promote blogger ? Maybe..cuz google is ready even to give off $1 for every firefox install which is a free software. Well, pls tell me what could be the apparent reason.
