Hi

I was wondering if submiiting to free search engines ( i mean loads of them ) if it will affect you or get you banned from places like google?

What i mean is, i have a program that lets me put my information in just the once, and it will submit it to like 1000 search engines, was wondering can this do any harm?

Thanks
Steve

Steve,

I've done this with a site of ours before, and it really didn't hurt it, nor did it help it much. As sck4784 mentioned, it may be harmful....

With that being said, if you have a product to sale, and if someone is actually using these engines to do a search, then they may be the type of person that may convert to a sale.

The number of links shouldn't exceed 100 a month.

Still, not quite clear why do you do it if there's no benefit from it?

Steve, don't worry about it hurting your site. It won't.

But it's not going to do anything to help either. Submitting your site to search engines won't do anything to help your pages show up in results. It's really pointless to submit your site to all those search engines. Besides if you can name 1000 search engines I'll give you a prize.

Automated submitters are a waste of time and some of them do violate the ToSes of search engines and other sites.

Having said that, it would be all too easy for a competitor to do harm by using an autosubmitter, so it can't hurt you from that standpoint. It's just a complete waste of time.
