Hi everyone,

I have a question that most, if not all, will already know the answer to.

I bought a new domain a while back, before I found out that the name doesn't really help that much with increasing visitors.

I put duplicate content on it thinking that 2 sites would be better than 1.

But now I am thinking that the search engines will probably see this as some sort of Spam, am I right?

Will I get punished for having 2 sites the same? I'm thinking I should make the 1 site just an advert with different keywords, to my more popular 1.

Really appreciate any help / suggestions.

It's likely that the oldest site will rank well (as well as it can) and the second will be low in the SERPS. Google won't rank both well.

So obviously no real point having two the same just to make use of a spare domain name, but no punishment for having two?

If you have 2 domains names though you might as well use the second one. Its really easy to get a blog going with your second domain.

You could use it to boost your main url.

Thanks both, I think that pretty much clears it up, I have a blog going now, but will use the other domain for something related to my main one.

At the very least just get and index page going with a couple sentences to get the Google clock ticking on your website.
