You can still get PR and be indexed while in "the sandbox".
What terms are you ranking well for?

Umm, according to a post by the owner of www.highrankings.com nobody has gotten a pr of anything in less then 6 months. The sandbox affects the pr not getting indexed and listed?

A site should get PR as soon as it sees a PR update. The sandbox generally referes to how a site ranks in the SERPS.

Shannon I'm not sure what post you're referring to, but you might want to reread it. The 'sandbox' has never been about PR or being indexed. It's about new sites not being able to rank well for all but the least competitive keywords when the domain is new.

hmm, according to some other articles, the sandbox only affects the pr as I have sites with 0 pr that rank number one in multiple terms....

Shannon you'll see lots of different opinions on what the 'sandbox' is and isn't so there's going to be a lot of misinformation out there.

Google has added a lot of trust based filters into its algorithm and so it's harder for newer domains to rank for a specific keyphrase than it will be for an older domain to rank for that same keyphrase.

Just like riverlee I have a new domain created back in September. The domain has a single page on it and I think all of one, maybe two links pointing to it from my blog. It was indexed in a matter of days as my blog gets spidered fairly often. It's also now showing a PR of 2 in the toolbar after the most recent update. It's now 4 months old.

Just about every page that has been indexed will rank for something. Take a unique phrase or sentence on any page and search for it with quotes around the phrase and it will most likely rank #1 for the unique phrase. It may not, but it should.

If you took the same phrase on put it on the page of a site that has been around for a few years the older domain will probably rank above the newer domain as soon as the page is indexed.

To me the 'sandbox' is more about trust than age though age does go into the calculation of trust.

If you look at the terms that the PR0 site is ranking well for they probably aren't very competitive keyphrases, though if your site has built up trust and authority quickly you can probably rank for more competitive phrases sooner.

I think the post referred to might be this one: http://www.highrankings.com/forum/in...howtopic=12535

You really should give a link (if there is one) if you make reference to what someone has said somewhere.

Thanks for the link gringo. Shannon is that the link you were referring to? If so note a few things. The thread doesn't mention PR or indexing at all. It only talks about rank.

Also the thread is nearly 2 years old. When that thread was started I believe the 'sandbox' was something very new and not well understood.

One of the things I think leads to misinformation about seo is that people think specifics they see in a forum or article from a few years ago still holds true. It might. There are some basic things with seo that have been pretty consistent for a long time, but search engine algorithms and our understanding of them is ever changing and evolving. It's always a good idea to look at the date on any seo information you're reading.

Hey there, no that is not the thread and I cannot find it again they may have removed it. I know highrankings only puts valid info so when the info became absolute they may have removed it. But thank you for clearing that info up for me. Now atleast I know the reason and can continue to rank well fast!
