If I encrypted my code, will that effect my rankings in the search engines? or will the bots have np with it.

Depends on what you mean by encrypt... But if you encrypt your text and dynamicly decrypt it using e.g. Javascript... Then yes...

The simplest way to do that is with JavaScript which still someone can copy and use it. People can even easily decrypt it. Unless you find some magical way to really encrypt it then it's not worth it. Anyways that's not really encrypting. Just making it hard for humans to read.

Takes less than 30 seconds to decrypt a site; I don't advise it in the first place, unless you maintain 2 separate indexes -- one with the real HTML for editing, and the other one for encrypted ... one slip-up, and you can hose the whole site.

I suggest that you dont, while the SE's may be ok with it, regular old .html or .php files are the way to go. Having pages in the Data Base are harder to change once they are indexed as the id number updates and the SE's may skip past such pages.
