I would really be thankful if anyone can suggest me the way to make one of my forum topic popular.

I had submitted it in "digg" and in "delicious". Also making a Press Release.

Is there any other way to make it popular and to get huge traffic?

Nancy I think the only way to make a forum thread popular is to raise an interesting discussion. If you do that it should take care of itself. You digg your thread all you want, but unless it's an interesting topic in the first place it's not going to become popular.

You could also try actual Advertising. It works wonders!

I heard your postings become more popular on digg by the more friends you have on their. If you have a lot of friends your posting has more weight

Tell us about your forum and maybe some of us will come and post on it.Just an idea.

It helps if the thread is written so that it gets peoples attention. All too often the same material gets rehashed in forums; however, there are those that garner a lot of interest. Try looking at some popular threads and see what it is about them that makes them stand out.

catchy title, good content - a nice question / comment that can be increased to an extreme discusion. . .

I find a good way is to sign up and actually use a self serve advert service. This draws alot of attention.

publicize your site...anyway what kind of forum do you have?? we might want to join there too...try social bookmarking sites...

a forum thread will be popular if many people response in it and you can only make people response if your thread is interesting enough and most people can relate on it.

Hey, katkac, I don't think persuading your friends to digg your news would be a good idea since digg seems to ban users who digg their friend's stories. Well, since its a web 2.0 site, friends are vital.

Anyway, I think the title really really counts. Get a really nice title and you may get visitor. Then, ensure that the poster as well as the visitors would find this fun or informative to read. Make the conversation really active by actively participating in it.

Don't just give posts like "Thats a nice tip. Any more ?". Instead, react or give your thoughts on it. Give a lot of links to resources. Make the question really clear or else people won't respond to your thread.

I don't know about the digg effect for forum posts because I've never tried. There's only one BIG tip. And, it is "Discuss something that would provide value to people". Help people genuinely and earn good karma.

For example, from the time I joined this forum, I've been seeing vangogh and, let me say, I love his posts. No matter how long they are, I read it because he has good karma by helping others and, of course, me. Thats all I've to say.
