Hi all, I have seen in many website or I can say almost websites that www.xyz.com/index.php or whatever doesn,t crawled by google and I have also seen google doesn't display index.php page in their SERP.

So I just want to know why google do this?

Let me know your comments with explanations.

thanks

I guess Google likes static pages more. And, it may be because .php is a script file and why the hell would Google wanna show script pages to its visitors ?

Yes. does Google indexes dynamically generated pages, (with the following file extensions: .asp, .php, and pages with question marks in their URLs.) However, these pages can cause problems for the Googlebot and may be ignored.
You may want to consider creating static copies (html etc) of those pages for the Googlebot. Keep in mind, if you choose to do this, be sure to include a robots.txt file that disallows the dynamic pages so that Google doesn't see those pages as duplicate content.
Here is the official "google" answer http://www.google.com/support/webmas...es&topic=&type=

but there are a lot of other reasons why your site isn't ranked..such as age, lack of inbound links, "black hat" tactics like hidden text same color as background etc.

Dear briguy, this page is self explaining reply for the question asked by sck4784. I have seen so many sites whose xyz.com and xyz.com/index.html or xyz.com/index.php or xyz.com/index/asp are all indexed by Google and they all are also showing in the SERP.
