Lets say I have two domains on the same hosting account (same ip address), will I benefit from linking them to one another?

One of these days you are going to surprise me and post something that is NOT recycled rubbish.
If you are trying to game the SEs it won't matter in the slightest whether you have several sites on on IP or them spread around dozens of different hosts in different countries.
If all your sites are on one host and it makes sense to link to and from them to ach other, DO SO!!!!!

It is not bad to link them together. I dont understand why people think that is bad. If it will benefit your users, then why the hell not. If your websites are within the duplicate content or the same content then you will need to watch it.

I am also wondering... why it is bad?
SEs look for content alone, right?. May be if you have hundreds of links to and fro between the sites, then SEs would consider it as some thing fishy.

What Craig is trying to say is that the IP address myth is just that...a myth. Since there are a limited number of IPs and a relatively unlimited number of domains, then sooner or later sites on the same IP address/block are going to link together naturally. It's inevitable.
The problem is that some SEO-types try to set up a server, throw 200 sites on it, and cross-link them all together (also known as the GoPro technique...see GoPro.ca for more information.) That generally doesn't work out all that well, if at all, because the sites are usually low-content pieces of garbage. That's where the myth probably stems from as much as anything...people pulling that silly stunt.

so you recommend linking (on the samp ip address) to a few sites (no more than say 20) so that it seems natural and not just for SEO?

No...I recommend linking if it actually is natural and not for SEO. What makes sense to your users? Do that, and the SEO will stem from that.

It's fine to do the linking on the same C block however don't expect to much from it, it is better to link from different C blocks, however there is no penatly.

There's a pattern developing here. I've been reading this site for a month or two, and have noticed that advice from ChrisHirst, Stox, and Adam Web Design is always spot on. This site attracts lots of intelligent people, and these three aren't the only ones to pay attention to, but they've consistently steered people in the right direction, and when one of them offers advice, it's wise to pay attention.
For SEO purposes, you're not likely to benefit much. Reciprocal links don't count for much, and without knowing about the "link popularity" or "authority" or other metrics of these two domains, well, the links could or could not be weighty. But you could open a free blogger account, put a link to your domain, and have wasted 20 minutes. Basically what I'm trying to say is not all links were created equal.
But if your readers would benefit from knowing about both domains instead of just one, then that far outweighs any SEO consideration. It sounds like a catch-22, but things you do for your visitors instead of for the SEs are likely to be rewarded, and things you do for the SEs instead of your visitors are likely to be ignored by the engines and frowned on by your users.

I wasn't talking about reciprocal links. I was talking about having site A link to site B.

Ahhh. You said linking them to one another, so I figured you meant A -> B and B -> A. Still, I would think the benefit would be small for B unless A is already pretty respected by the search engines. Link them if it benefits your users is the best advice you'll find.

Thanks for the compliment, dude. But you should also give some love out to guys and gals like LadyNRed and vangogh. They're generally on the trolley too.

Yeah, I was thinking how I missed those two in particular. And there are a lot of other people who've offered some really good advice, but the five of you come through time and again.
