Traffic is more important. since more traffic means more clients and that equates to more profit.
PR is just for link popularity, for link exchanges purposes. and we do simply because we want to gain more traffic

Neither!
You need qualified traffic for good conversion.
traffic for traffics sake is marginally more useful than PR, but it is still wasted effort.
Unqualified traffic simply wastes bandwidth and server resources for little gain

I'd agree with Chris. Traffic is better only because traffic represents a closer step the end goal of SEO...to drive targeted people to your site. PageRank is just a step in the traffic direction.
Mind you, if you're worried about those two issues the way you've laid them out, you won't end up with much in terms of either. PageRank and traffic flow more nicely when grown organically than they do when one attempts to inject the anabolic steroids of link exchanges, traffic schemes, banner exchanges, affiliate links, co-op schemes, backlinks for the sheer sake of backlinks, etc. and so on.

Thats like saying "what is better, dead mice or lots of mousetraps around your house".
Whats the point of PR if you already have the traffic. If your asking what is better for search engine placement, then pr beats traffic, but only because engines don't count traffic. PR is an ends, not a means.

I think link popularity or backlinks can be a source of traffic. We get page rank by some factors like number of quality backlinks and rich contents. Then if we have more backlinks we can get more traffic that can be convert into sales.

If you are a directory selling links, then perhaps PR could be a better option.
I mean of course traffic will be the best, but getting targetted target will be difficult. You need content, good quality content.

I think Pagerank is crap and is never used in Google search engine pages. Its only useful when u're trying to sell links in your site. Otherwise, forget it. And, as ADAM said, Quality traffic is what matters.
Quality traffic is the traffic which brings conversions. Ordinary traffic which you may get from Myspace and all aren't that important. But, it can help raise your Alexa rankings a bit.

I agree that there is a correlation between PR and Traffics.
I would say the most different think between them is:
PR is the target and traffic is the result.
Target is something we can achieved.
Result is something that we could only wait and see.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
I just wanted to ask a question that would have more significance to seo.
