Shannon why not just explore the sites in member signatures and stumble and bookmark the ones you like. You can give back without the need for people to contact you. I'm sure if you bookmark and stumble people will notice and appreciate it, but I don't know that people needed to PM you.

I do think you're trying to give something back and are genuinely trying to help people here.

Well, I don't just want to stumble their sites. I can do that any day. I want to do it specifically for those who want it. They only have to PM me if they don't want their URL here which may get indexed

ChrisChrist, I know that this is not really for getting traffic, but in some recent articles I read, they were saying that if your site is not stumbled, or del.icio.us that you may drop in the rankings. How true that is I am not sure yet, that is why I am doing this. To gain rep from the community and to do some testing myself

Done Guys, Enjoy!

Why do you keep calling him ChrisChrist? He's not Jesus. I'm Jesus. He's merely my little brother, Jorge.

As far as your silly little theory is concerned, this can do more harm than it can good. Anyone here who had to ask to be Stumbled Upon has a site that isn't ready to be Stumbled Upon yet. That means that eventually, other people will either give it the thumbs down (or at least no thumbs up) and the site gets buried.

As Jorge said, everything that applies in the original cheat post applies here too.

Most of what applies in the cheat post should be read and understood for this one, but there's one big difference. Our other friend ( who hasn't visited WM-T lately ) was doing this to get stumbles for his own site. SeoKit doesn't really seem to be doing this for his own benefit here, or at least in a much less direct way. Shannon got banned from this site and others, and I didn't believe it at first, but it looks like Shannon actually learned a lesson about the world and how to deal with it. ( Learning that he's 18 made it easier to believe. ) I'm sure SEFL gets more traffic than most web sites listed here, simply because it's run by a wise, intelligent guy with morals - from the glimpse we've seen here, chances are that site has even more good stuff we should know. A much better approach than blatant self promotion, and Shannon is acting like he's starting to understand that. So, the one difference is that unlike "Mr Polemic," I think Shannon is genuinely trying to do something helpful for other webmasters, instead of just get more links himself. And to re-earn a little respect along the way I'm sure. To me that's a lot less bad.

But let's all consider the effect. If I go thumbs-up every site in every signature in every message I read, isn't that the same as not giving anyone a thumbs-up? I like Stumbleupon, and look at it from a user's point of view - it shows me cool web sites I'm interested in, and didn't know about. But if we look at it as SEOs, the point is getting thumbed gives you an advantage over other sites. But if everybody gets thumbed, then we're all on a level playing field, and it's as good as if nothing happened.

Thoughts?

John, I would believe that explanation except for one thing: I'm not totally convinced he's trying to help others as much as he is himself.

http://www.webmaster-talk.com/web-ho...-must-see.html

He just "agreed with you completely" without acknowledging anything that you said. Any idiot can do that. "John, ur so smart." (You are smart, John...I'm just pointing out syncophantic behaviour).

That, and you made one minor reference error: I'm supposedly "Mr. Polemic", remember?

To me, this is no better than what trichnosis was trying...it's just a tad more subtle. Mind you, it's the difference between getting whacked between the eyes with a baseball bat vs. a sledgehammer shot to the bridge of the nose. Either way, it's pretty weak.

How could I forget? Actually I was trying to be clever. The way our buddy Trich convinced himself your parents were wrong when they named you and it was up to him to fix that, makes the guy a bit of a polemic himself. And that's coming from somebody who went out of his way to give Trich the benefit of the doubt over cultural and language differences.
