Hey all,

I was wondering is there any tracking software that provides the following:

1. The origin of the traffic ( where/ what site they come from )
2. Where they go from a given site ( what other site do they visit during that time)

I know awstat and google analytics provides the infomation related to part 1. And i am looking for both or at least for the part 2.

Hope it make sense. Also any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

absolutely NOTHING can tell you where users go after leaving your site unless you install some sort of spyware on their machine.

Mr chrishirst is right in saying, you have to install some sort of spyware on their machine.

Thanks

I don't think Chris was actually suggesting to do this, just explaining that there's no way short of it.

You may used the statcounter as to track the origin of the traffic and the url of the site . Make sure to add the statcounter code to your site

The only thing I can think of with respect to this is to track outbound links from your site.

That's the only thing you can do of this nature without restorting to under-hand techniques which is obviously not recommend/suggested/endorsed/legal (in most cases).

Otherwise the only possibility is some sort of large external tracking service (e.g. Google Analytics) that gives everyone some sort of access to the all stats they record. However (for good reason) I don't think any popular stats service does this.

Obviously Google Analytics gives Google the ability to understand the online movements of a large proportion of people across the majority of the Internet - which presumably they'll be using to refine their search results etc. (or otherwise will be looking to do so).

A good way to do that is use Adsense it usually tracks most of this information just by itself.

I use the Traffic Facts which GoDaddy sells with its hosting accounts.

It's not the most polished application, but it does display referrers and Exit pages.

It also shows you the path that a visitor takes when visiting, or the pages and the order that they visit them in.

I've also used the freeware ApolloFind counter on another website. It's very basic, but it works okay.

you can track the INCOMING traffic of your site by different tools, like google analytics, awstats or stat counter.

but i think you can't track where your visitors go after they visit your site. and i can't see the point or reason for you to track it.
