Well as neither is of any importance, why waste your time.
Go and do something useful for your site instead

PageRank is Google's way of deciding a page's importance. It matters because it is one of the factors that determines a page's ranking in the search results. It isn't the only factor that Google uses to rank pages, but it is an important one. Here are information about page rank

When two pages are exactly as relevant as each other to whatever query someone types in - a tie - PageRank comes into the picture to decide which site comes first. But when they're different ( ie most of the time ), they're sorted by relevance, not PR.
I beat CNN and Adobe for "Seattle night photos," but if you search for anything to do with current events or Flash, if I rank at all, it will be far behind CNN and Adobe. In both examples, how the pages rank is not because of PR.
If your goal is to get as many eyeballs to your site as possible, search engines will provide some of them, but not a very large slice of the pie. PR and Alexa rank aren't going to make a huge difference overall, so they don't deserve all that much of your time.

Improve your link popularity and use your targeted keywords as your anchor text that might help you on ranking on such keywords...

Correct
the vast majority of people outside of the SEO or Webmaster/Site operator little world, have no idea what PageRank is and couldn't care less what it is.
Hundreds of thousands of real people out there who don't have a toolbar that displays this magical green thing, spend some of their time browsing the Internet blissfully unaware that they may be missing something so vitally important.
But still, they visit sites, bookmark sites, go and buy things from sites, tell their friends about sites without a clue of how many backlinks that page has or how much PR it has.
Maybe we should start a PR campaign (that's Public Relations BTW) to let these unfortunate people know just what they aren't missing. And of course when we embark on this heroic mission to spread the word, let us not forget the equally useless Alexa rank, which the same poor unfortunates are being deprived of.

The relevance is marginal at best. PageRank can be manipulated, twisted, shaken, stirred, and distorted in so many ways I've lost count. As a result, its importance has been greatly diminished at best.
The thing that you should be looking for is links from places that send you traffic...as in people. You know, those funny little creatures that actually visit your website. Good websites get organic links (those are unsolicited links that actually are worth something) from people.

I wouldn't say PageRank is useless.
Just look at the number of people willing to pay ridiculous money for a text link on a high PR site. If a little green bar can drive that kind of money to your site, go for it.
I'd agree with the rest though. 30 minutes producing quality content will do much more than 30 minutes of PR campaigning.

That'll change and likely within short order. Be prepared for a "sharp market correction" in this regard, and a long overdue one.

Any reason why that's due now?
I mean, surely there'll always be a new generation of SEO obsessed developers looking to take advantage of misinformed promises.
I wouldn't mind milking the last remaining stragglers for a few bucks though.

It could be, the update is not going to take that long to get here you should just wait for it to update then see what happens.
