For starters, lose the Text-Link-Ads-Ads. That thing is just asking for trouble, especially if and when big G clamps down on it. (Sooner or later, they have to.)
For seconds, the more of a quality directory you build, the better you'll do as far as search engines go. By listing as many of the good blogs as possible out there, you'll show that you're a resource worth looking at (right now, you don't have that many).
Your major issue, though, is navigation...specifically, how does one go about adding a blog on this site? First I have to be a member. I can't even find the registration link to fill out the form to be a member so that I can log in to add a blog. Personally, I'd just lose the whole registration part outright...if I can't figure it out, and I'm pretty smart, then it's overly complicated.
