Meta Tags + SE Submission

Greetings. I have a blog that appears on Google. But it only has the posts I've
posted in the beginning (months have passed).

I know there is a meta tag that "forces" Search Engines to come to
look for new content on a page everyday, I think it's this one:

<meta name="revisit-after" content="1 days"/>

What do I need to do more, to make my site available to all Serch
Engines? Are there any more tags I need to add? Where can I submit my
site?

Thanks...

If possible, I would like meta tags that worked for every SE...

Not so important, but anyone knows how to add meta tags in the new Blogger (previously Beta)?

The revisit-after tag is pretty well useless (there is the odd Tier 12 search engine that will make use of it, but nothing of any substance). Unless you're trying to mess with spammers' heads, it does no good. (It's really funny to watch spammers go off when you use that tag, though. )

If you want your blog to be updated, the easiest thing you can do is to include your blog in your signature and put up fresh posts once in a while. Once big G starts seeing the fresh links to your blog, it'll be crawled more frequently.

The other thing you can do is to make sure that you have content that is good enough for others to link to. That's the hardest part, so be prepared to work.

arlab what Adam said is right. You can't force search engines to visit your site. They come on their schedule not yours. The more links pointing into your site the more often they are likely to find you and visit.

If you update consistently they will also come back. There's no reason for them to revisit if nothing changes after all. You can send out pings when you add a new post. How depends on the blog software you're using.

Another point to consider is why are you concerned with them visiting all the time. More visits doesn't mean better ranking. Search engines visit because they want to index fresh content. If you don't make any changes to a page then why would would it matter if they visit again? They'll still have the same page indexed.

And to make sure everything is clear, the meta tag you described really does exist. You can do the same thing through the webmaster control panel. If Google visits your site every day, and you update it every week, they'll respect a tag telling them not to come back for a while. They won't honor requests to come back in five minutes, only to conserve bandwidth.

Google needs to balance having out-of-date info against wasting their computer power chewing up the same document again and again.

if you want to add meta tags on nwe blogger, i think the pattern is like this:

<meta content='your keywords' name='keywords'/>
<meta content='your description' name='description'/>

hope this will help!

Allex you'd need to share a lot more information before anyone could explain things. If you tell us the site, the phrases that were searched, and the pages those searches led to then maybe someone could try to explain things.

Also please define 'lots' Brand new sites can rank well for a non-competitive terms. But I'd highly doubt that if all you did was submit your site to search engines with some seo software that you're actually getting any meaningful search traffic.

Andrew - I'm not sure what you're asking. If you're asking because something shows up in Technorati results will Google rank it better I don't see why they would. Google uses a lot of different factors when determining where to rank a page for a given query. While no one can say for certain what those factors are I feel safe saying that where the page ranks on Technorati isn't going to be one one of those factors.

Please, don't. Every time I feel good about the amount of traffic, that I have some readers, someone else mentions their stats and puts me to shame. I'm kidding about don't tell us what lots translates to, but Van has a good point here.

Blogger pings Technorati when you publish a new post, if this is the question?
