Keyword in url AND page name?

Hi Guys and Girls.
I have a domain name which is my keyword phrase. I have named all my sub pages with other related keyword phrases but because of this the main keyword would appear twice in a link to that page as well as in the title and description. Example: build-a-widget.com file name "design-a-widget.htm
Would that hurt me for the word "widget" or should I not worry and concentrate on the phrase?
In seo terms which is best:
build-a-widget.com/widget-design.htm or
build-a-widget.com/design.htm
Also, in my site navigation I have used the full term for each file which means "widget" gets used a lot on every page.
I don't want to go live if I have it wrong so any idvice will be gladly received, thanks.

Neither, Either or Both
The domain name, pagename and "keyword" URLs mean very very little for SEs. What counts is the Anchor Text used for the link.

You get plenty o' special treatment if the keyword is in your URL, especially the domain name. But links from a variety of different sites/domains that point back to your site with the key phrase in the anchor text, like Chris said, is what will pull you up in the rankings. If anyone else on Planet Earth is trying to come up on Google for the same phrase, they're going to take the anchor text approach, and it doesn't take much of that to overpower the love you get for having "widget" in the URL.

having a keyword on page name or in domain name is good but we to consider the density of that keyword.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think maybe I could have made the question a little clearer though. I do understand about the powers of links back and anchor text etc. What I am worried about is keyword stuffing in the urls.
To me it stands to reason that if you have your key phrase in your url then that phrase will also include your keyword. Now if you call your pages other related key phrases then again it will include your keyword.
build-a-keyword.com/keyword-designs.htm has 2 seperate keyphrases but the main keyword twice.....Is this ok regards seo?
The second thing was again regards keyword stuffing but this time within the navigation on each page. I want to use each pages keyphrase as its anchor text but if i do that would i risk stuffing my pages with the keyword which is in every phrase?
Each page is going to have a list of links:
keyword designs
keyword colours
keyword supplies
keyword pictures
keyword etc. X 50 at the moment but obviously is going to grow.
Hope thats clearer ( i only just follow it and i wrote it!)

the worst that is likely to happen is that your URLs look stupid in the address
code your folder names and page names for the important task of site maintenance, not for the less than miniscule benefit that might happen.

While I agree that it doesn't matter in having it in your URL, I have done some testing with sub sections like
folder/key-word/key-word.html
folder/key-word/
both index very well and because it has the keyword it seems to get picked up by the search engines for the specific keyword. I rank in several terms for doing that now. Not fully tested but it seems to work some for me.

1) Having keywords in your URL won't help your pages get indexed
2) How do you know your pages aren't rankling because of factors other than keywords in their URL's (e.g. keywords in the page content, anchor text etc)?

AND of course you are using anchor text such as <a href="/folder/key-word/key-word.html">This text does not have the same keywords as the page name and folder</a> and nor does text around the link.

So to recap;
You have your folders and pagenames and anchor text all as keywords and you are hoping to demonstrate what exactly?
that anchor text is good for getting a page ranked for a certain phrase??

That, and it's putting a lot of eggs in one basket. Hopefully there's more than one phrase to target...

Just out of interest, how are you testing this? I only ask because it's very difficult to even identify all the factors that influence where a page ranks, let alone change them in isolation.

Well, for instance I have one page with these keywords ranking in a term that I have don't the same SEO to, and one that does not which also has the same SEO. There are no direct links pointing to either of these pages, they are being carried by the front page. The one with the keyword folders and such are already ranking on the front page, while the other is no where to be seen.
Its not a perfect test, but from what I have seen its the way to go when marketing for just one term and one term only.

Any chance you could reveal the URL's because I didn't understand a word of that?
