Hi all, I have a another question, we are doing a site that has a members only section.we want to know how to get the search engines to those pages even though you need a user name and password to get to them.
This may be possible or not, if yes, please explain how?
But if you do that, members only pages will appear in the SERPs. When the 'non member' public click on the links they won't be able to see your content without becoming a member.
Through IP and/or user agent detection. You detect when a search engine bot shows up and let them see the content. You detect when a user shows up and make them register.
Having said that, you should heed what gringo said too. Free passes for search engines vs. registration for users tends to annoy a lot of visitors and leads to lack of conversion/regular visitors.
What Adam said is the way to do it. But I agree with what gringo said as well.
What might make for the best compromise is to show a paragraph or two of the content on each page available to everyone (spiders and people) and then have a link to more which requires registration.

Hi All,
I am happy to see this question because it is a good question,
I am agree with the gringo. As for as i know that when SE crawl the login page then SE skip the login criteria But a user moves a page then it is necessary that he login a user id and password.
So when SE Skip the Login criteria then it is easy to optimize the page.
But i want to know about the parameters for skipping of the Loin page by SE.
If you have a suggestion which is more convinient then tell me.I will also do.
