I have been thinking over, and don't know and can't find the answer...So I will ask.

Is there any difference(to Google or any other search engine) if you website is a BLOG or normal website. I personally find blogs easier to mess with then websites unless you have Joomla websites.. But Anyone know? Like can you not be ranked in the normal search engine if you are a blog ect? =)

Nope; there isn't an answer

A blog is a website with a CMS
A CMS is a website with a CMS
A forum is a website with a CMS
A website is a website whether it has some form of CMS or not

I think what he's saying is that search engine bots at best have to guess whether you used a CMS, wrote up some ASP, or just made a bunch of static html. They don't treat these things differently, they really don't care which technology you used. They just care about content and links.

Yes I agree, and I write all of my own content, as well as put up my own links. All of my content is nice. I am currently working on a decent sized Niche network which will all be like topic and interlinking I love creating new things. Thanks for your say , I apperciate all of the help I can get.

I would imagine what everyone else is saying is correct.

I don't know too much about blogs in general but I have just started with wordpress. In their setup options, there is an option to generate a search engine friendly blog (not their exact terminology, but something like that).

I think the one big advantage about a proper blog like wordpress is the ping back and trackbacks, etc. I don't really understand it all, but as far as I am aware, wordpress will automatically send your blog posts to sites like technorati and delicous, etc, so there is a higher chance that you'll get found

Since most Wordpress templates include the meta tag for the generator being used (eg: <meta name="generator" content="WordPress 2.1.3" />), does this have any bearing when it comes to bots?

Perhaps if someone created a bot to solely spider blogs then this might come into play. Otherwise, search engines are not about what software is being used but content.

I created a Wordpress blog in March 2007. It was almost immediately picked up by Google (I didn't submit). Without trying to get reciprocal links, it has stayed high in the Google search results... because of content. Google picks up text/content.
