Completely confused by conflicting PR

I haven't had time to work on my websites for a long time so tonight I'm going through all of my domains and checking out their PR. I have one site with a PR0. This site has 200+ inbound links and it gets thousands of hits a month. Another site has NO inbound links and is a PR4.

The site with 0 is http://www.clooneyworld.com/

The site with PR4 is http://www.georgeclooneymovies.com/

Any insight would be appreciated.

The second link doesn't seem to be working.

With the first site how new is it? I can't find any information on the pages in Google which would lead me to believe the site is either very new or has done some naughty seo and was banned by Google.

Many of your links look like they come from two sites. One seems to be an ad you placed. Google has indicated they prefer not to count paid links when it comes to ranking. The other site looks like a forum and the links I see look like they border on being hidden links. The color of the link comes very close to the background color. I don't know if this is intentional hiding of the link or just poor design, but if Google thinks they are an attempt to manipulate them then it's not a good thing.

Chances are Google doesn't give a lot of weight to site wide links beyond the first one, two, or few. So while it seems like you have 200+ links, in the eyes of Google it's probably a lot less.

Remember too that the PR you see (Toolbar PR) is only updated once every few months so any links you've gotten since the last update won't be included.

Thanks for your input.

On the first link that isn't working, up until yesterday it was always just forwarded to clooneynetwork.com (not a 301 redirect but forwarded) It's never been a website, always forwarded.

The other site has been around for about 6 years. I didn't build it, someone gave it to me to archive.

You said.."The color of the link comes very close to the background color. I don't know if this is intentional hiding of the link or just poor design, but if Google thinks they are an attempt to manipulate them then it's not a good thing."

This is what I am wondering about as well. I don't think the person who designed it was trying to fool Google but perhaps that's how Google views it. Do you think if I change some of that, it'll make a difference? Or, is it a goner?

If you own both of those sites, then the easiest thing to do in order to determine what's going on is to go into Webmaster Tools, verify both sites, and see what Google has to say about them.

You'll probably find a lot more of the backlinks that generated the PR4 from there than you will from any queries you'll do on Google itself.

Signing up for Webmaster Tools is a good idea. Might as well get as much information as you can from the source.

I don't know for certain how Google will see those links or react to them. It's just a thought. If you did buy the site from someone else maybe that person had done something in the past. I would think a site that's a few years old would be showing some PR even with only a few links pointing into it.

Adam Google was showing nothing for the site at all. I found all the link data checking Yahoo. The majority seemed to come from a small handful of sites so I'd guess Google doesn't see that many unique links pointing to the site.

Still not seeing anything for site: info: link: at Google makes me think the site has a past.
