Hi,

What do you think about the click throuh rates for organic results?

Personally when I search for something I open several of the results ( in new tabs ) that look interesting from the top 10, and if I don't find anything interesting there I go with the second page.

Some people say to stay away from the #1 position in serps, as if most of the people check out the first 4-5 results, the best position would be one of the latest they check.

What you think?

I look at it like this: #1 is the first result someone will read. So that's where I'd want to be.

I'll take any position on the first page for a keyword or phrase, though. If I can't have #1, that is.

It depends on your target audience

personally, I check the text snippet before I click through when I am looking for something.

So you could be #1 with a poor descriptive snippet and you wouldn't get me to your pages.

I look at the description first. However, I must admit, many times I do look at the first site in the SERPS because....well hell, it's #1!

I also agree with the others. Give me a top 10 in Google anyday and I'll be happy, except for the two sites where I'm sitting #1 and #2. lol

i agree with this.. but being in #1 position is like a dream come true, everyone is working hard just to get in the top position.

Being in the top 10 is good and #1 spot better

Sometimes the #1 spot don't provide the info you are looking for

It's about targetting the right area rather than blanket promotion in useless areas, granted. However, being #1 is a very good place to be if your site is related to what the visitors wants to find out
