Hello,

I recently created a website even though it might not be as good as other sites around.... ( I'm just starting....)

I would like to know how can I make my site show up on google, yahoo, etc based on selected keywords....

Any help would be appreciated..

Site: www.crlandmarket.com

Thanks!

Some general guidelines

1. First you need to add quality unique content
2. Select the keywords you want, but try not to go for keywords that have a lot of competition at first
3. Optimize your pages for these keywords, using common sense ( do not overdo it ), basically you need to have keywords in areas like title, description, in content of the page, eventually h1 and h2 tags, a few image names, some internal links
4. Get quality inbound links from revelant sites ( this might be the hardest part ). Link exchanges are usually detected and ignored by search engines, so do not focus on them, you can do some link exchanges if relevant but they will not bring you much benefit in terms of SEO.

You just did. The link you created when asking your question is something Google and Yahoo and MSN will notice, and they'll send their robots to your web site to see what it's all about.

Now how you get to the #1 position for "good websites" or any other keyword is a different question. You should be #1 for your own domain name, but for words you have on your page, you won't do so well right off the bat. Or until you put in work. But by virtue of the one link here, you'll at least get looked at by all the major search engine companies.

Thanks!
I will start doing some mind work
On the text that the sites has, I would need to use then the keywords that people would use on the search engines.
Alex_m mentioned the use of images, any kind of images or how are images used for this?

The first thing you'll want to do is to lose all those submission service things. Submission services do nothing. They've done nothing for a long time, they'll continue to do nothing. As John pointed out, all it takes is an inbound link from somewhere that's crawled frequently (e.g. this board) to get indexed.

As far as ranking is concerned, alex_m more or less hit on it...make sure your content is unique, make sure your user experience is maximized, and you will generate traffic-sending organic links (once you tell a few of the right people) and your SEO will stem from there. Don't try the get-rich-quick approach either...it won't work.

As far as your signature is concerned, use the following (except replace { with [ and } with ] ):
Code:
{url=http://www.crlandmarket.com}Costa Rican Properties{/url}

That's advice worth paying for, so you should take it for free. The link in your signature will help you when people type crlandmarket into Google, but Adam's suggestion will help when someone types Costa Rican Properties, or any of those three words.

I agree with John. Pay me lots of money now...real money (none of that funny money from department stores or Monopoly.)
