lotta people picked vbulletin, i dont use vbulletin, YaBB is also good, thats what i use for my forum http://www.mafia-sh1t.p4h.biz/forum <-- dont mind the domain, working to get good one. YaBB is free and easy to use and set up

when PhpBB 3 wakes up from the beta to full - i guess its as good as the paid VB.
