If you have forum in the domain, is it best with forum or with forums?

like siteforum.com or siteforums.com and so on.

I like *forums.com better than *forum.com. But then again, it's a preference. Like this forum is better as *forum.com since "earners" is plural.

Actually for me, it does not really matter but it really depends on the name.

buy both domains, use "forums" and forward "forum" to it.

Yes buy both to protect you from domain squatters and to captcher typos but promote forums with an S.

Why?

Because of the way Google returns results. If someone searches for keyword forum Google will still return your site with the word forum highlighted in it like this: keywordforums

Google can recognize non-plural keywords embeded in plural ones. So you get the search rankings for both keyword forum and keyword forums

I prefer 'forums' but this board and others it depends on the keyword to make it 'forum' or 'forums'.

What do you guys use for folders for your forum, say you had a site and .com/ what would you have your forums inside, eg; /forums, /board, /forum, /community etc...

___forum.com domains have consistently sold for MUCH higher prices than ___forums.com domains. It's more grammatically correct, and it's shorter.

I have a personal rule of never developing ___forums.com domains and also wouldn't pay much for them.

You guys are ignoring Dark Knight which is unfortunate ... forums in my opinion is a much better term because it *does* have a chance to rank better on search engines. Most people search for "forum" but for those few that search for "forums" the ___forum.com owner would lose that traffic.

But if possible, I would agree you should buy both.

You also need to consider how strong the word forum is in your niche to begin with. For some types of sites, the word "forum" may be searched quite often, for others, it may not be an important term to have at all.

I think the main reason why paid posting fails on some forums isn't because of the company's competency, but rather of the forum admins.

Some customers think that by purchasing a large paid posting campaign, that their work is done, and that some how people will join it on their own, and that some how, they can flip the forum and sell for thousands...when in actuality, that isn't slightly the case.

Many forum admins don't participate in their own forums - and to make matters worse, they don't market it, or try to recruit more members. In the end, you only get your paid posting to populate your forum, and nothing else.

It's the admin's duty to continue to market the forum, as well as remain active. Find some solid members yourself and get them to be around the forums as the campaign is going - otherwise, it'll crash and fall and you'll feel cheated - giving the company a rough time, and an incorrect negative feedback...when they've done their job, and all they could. Nothing more, nothing less.

Did you read my post in this thread? What did you think?

As for grammatical correctness, if every single web user typed grammatically correct searches, you'd have a point, unfortunately, that's not the case.

forums as unless you plan to only talk about 1 subject (I don't know any forums that do) it is correct.

However if you already have a plural (like earners) then forum sounds better.

I'll have to go with 'forums' on this one bill.

I believe that it will roll better with the other wods. Rather than such a harsh stop "foruM" - If you are catching my drift, otherwise that probably didn't make sense at all
