This is my fastest growing forum, and it's been online for less than two hours. Go to www.theblackparade.net and see the splash page, I think that worked. Maybe you should use that little technique as well, just a tip.

I think 2 hours is a bit to early to judge a successful launch personally. I would give it at least 1 month.

Yea my last forum I launched had several thousand posts within the first day. All went well for a few weeks but then the "newness" factor died out and everything slowed.

No bulletins or anything. I just added people on MySpace, and replied to any of their comments or messages. I guess you're right Lee, but usually it's backwards, no activity in the beginning, more in the next few weeks.

wow, thats pretty cool, i like the banner on top, looks cool and that much in 2 hrs is pretty cool too, my forum has been up, well the new and improved one has been up for almost 3 weeks now and i have 50 registered members and over 1000+ posts and 200+ topics

Yup, almost at 600 already. Hopefully I can get to 1000 before the 24 hours end.

I think posting about the site on emonews.net also helped it out a bit.

I have to disagree, My Chemical Romance has a HUGE fan base. And I'm sure a large percentage of them are computer/forum savvy.

I like this band a lot, it's not really about the money or about making this an extremely successful niche.

Well, if you're not making money then it's just a hobby.. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Anyway, I don't see how you couldn't make money from this site if it became popular. Slap some contextual ads on it and they will work for you just like they do for any other big forum. "My Chemical Romance" might not be a high paying keyword, but do you really think people are going to go here JUST to talk about the band? No. They will talk about anything and everything else as well, and the ads will be relevant to those threads as well. That's where you'll make your money.

To make money from it, I'm planning on signing up for CJ and selling MCR merchandise.

You guys were right, the activity did slow down, but it's still pretty active imo.

I would wait a while before I call it anything more than buzz. It looks nice and myspace marketing should be simple for a site like that.
