I have to admit I am struggling to get memebers to join. I am improvimg everything on my forum in terms users and design and getting people registered. I have only 2 posters on my forum that are paid (forumshock) and the rest are unique users.

I have to say ever since purchasing the paid poster my users have increased and started posting. Now, with a contest going on and advertising I am wonder how else can I improve users in joining the actual forum?

I pretty much did what you did. I also post a lot on a bunch of different forums with my links in my signatures and people just click it on their own.

I would suggest giving them something that they can receive or gain access to as soon as they register that they don't get by just being a guest.

For example on one of my gaming forums i have hosted over 50 videos and they have to register to view these and view the discussion about the videos. Also every time i release a new video i get a whole bunch of new people registering.

I have thought of that, do you think a gallery would be just as effective?
