We all know that every forum is different. But we all have a general chat forum, Lets get some ideas together for good threads what we can all use.

"What are you listening to right now?"

Always a crowd pleaser, but I suspect every forum already has enough of those. :-)

I guess by "General" it depends what your other forums are. Generally my "General" forum threads include movies, hobbies, rants, etc.

I rarely post threads in my 'General Chat' forum, as I feel they take away attention from the on-topic forums.

If members want to post in there, so be it. But I don't encourage activity in there.

play it by ear, anything about what is in the news right now and a hot topic, should do really well.
Or start something silly like this

I like to post about sports, fantasy sports, etc.

Ha ha. I have never seen that thread on DP. Pretty funny. I like the what are you listening to threads.

The scarry thing is that the thread itself ranks in Google for all kinds of terms related to hot girls, so people sign up just to vote :thumbup:
