Would anyone recommend making multiple accounts and posting on each of them to start up a forum if one doesn't have any money?

i've done that in the past. it doesn't make much difference. The best thing I've found is to find a group of friends who will help you by posting regularly.

It does make the site look more active than it (probably) is, so if you are promoting in the right outlets, it might work. But it's never a given.

Well, as most forums only allow admins to see IP adresses, it wouldn't really matter.

I know a lot of people do that but I tend to lean away from that. I prefer to have a sort of launch team of all my friends who help me out in getting a forum active.

Creating dummy accounts is certainly recommended - but it can become obvious. Too many admins create a dummy who is somewhat angry and challenges admin decisions.

I was going to sign up again to my game, basically play the game like someone new, and see how my own staff treat me, how people act to me etc im sure they'd act different around me if i was a level 1 rather than a level 50 admin.

Hey,

On a forum that I did have I did do it but now on my new forum I have not done it at all. I see not point. I spend the money I have made on the forum promoting the forum and keep none for myself.

I don't know...it's always felt like cheating to me. I guess if nobody finds out it would be ok, and it would generate some activity!

Yay, First post!! I have been lurking at this forum for awhile...tons of inspiring people and articles here! I definitely used this technique to get my first forum off the ground. Also, even established forum has slow periods...nothing like a good debate to stir things up again. Sometimes I will use my dummy accounts to play devils advocate.

Well you have a listing of serveral companies to choose from. What you need to do is browse through several Services to see which one fits your needs. Remember not all of them are the same. Or provide great customer service. You can either order directly from their homepage. Or email, pm them, or fill out an support ticket. Majority of them will get back to you within 24 - 48 hours.

There is also such a thing called freelance paid posters. The payout will be cheaper and only 1 - 5 people. You just need to look around at various webmaster forums or even do a post hiring them as well. Payout is usually .15 - .20 cents a post. Many will do up to 100 posts, possibly more. But if you have specific instructions on how to do the work. Be sure to specify with them before ordering.

And no, IMHO, most of these services are not scams. It just varies on the owner and how he/she runs their service. When I ran 2 of the services before I sold. I required a few things from my writers. As well as of myself, to have quality customer service, on my part. Where I would send updates or atleast to keep an open channel of communication with the clients. I still freelance on occasion. And I always have worked with Paypal. Which appears to be the most accepted form of payment. Than E-Gold or Stormpay.
