On your forum, do you have a seperate forum cat just for introductions or one big long thread?

More importantly, why?

I use an auto welcome message, that creates a new thread welcoming a new member. Whilst I have concerns that most of the posts are exactly the same in each thread, I think that it is nice for new members to get their own thread.

I have a seperate forum for member introduction. I just think it gives people more opportunity to welcome each member individually and they might feel more at home that way..

Wouldnt that get picked up as duplicate content most of the time? Most people just reply with the same old lines: "Welcome to such n such"

I do the same thing. The girls on my wife's forum (which I admin for her) love it. Other forums where it's mostly guys joining up, well... they don't care for it much.

I use introduction forums. Seems to be well liked among members.

I don't feel there is a need to do that, no.
