This may seem like an odd question, and probably has many answers depending on what type of forum you run, etc... but:

At what point to do start to attempt to get advertisers to advertise on your site, and also begin to really throw your forums name around.

My sites a bit over 3 months old, and I've got only 92 members at the moment, so I know I won't be getting much in terms of people wanting to advertise on my site quite yet? What I'm completely clueless with is whats a good # of members/posts/threads where I should start asking around for either advertising or forum "sponsorships". There are tons of potential advertisers/sponsors but I can't seem to get a response from any of them. So I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or just rushing things.

I didn't make this forum just to make money, but its obviously not a bad thing to have it happen. :thumbup1:

You can do it whenever you want really. As long as when a guest registers they are presented with little to no advertisements I think you can get away with doing it now

Personally, I'd say if you're going to have advertising on your forum at any point, you should have at least one advertisement on your site from the very start. That way users know what kind of site you are (more business like/driven) .. this will make sure that users will not disprove of your advertisements when you suddenly pop some ads up.

I designed my forums theme with advertisements planned in mind from the beginning, I had a couple at the start and I designed areas I would use in the future for more ad placements.

That is a pretty good point, but I'm leaning more towards the "sponsorships" or personal companies that have to do with F-Bodies (Camaros and Firebirds). If you look at LS1Tech, or something of that sort, there are all related sites that advertise there. I don't think I'm going to do anything with Google ads or anything of that sort

1-2 at the very beginning are not going to hurt. I have a recent community I started with 2 text ad spots and 2 banners and I am glad I added them! Even with my limited traffic they are performing. Good placement along with proper targetting = yay!

I started advertising immediately and my forum is starting to grow.
It's really a matter of interest and how much you're getting the word out to them that'll help your forum a lot.

I think it depends on the amount of activity your forum generates, Are those 92 people really contributing? Is the forum active, I'll take a look.

I think this is good advice. These days I don't think many people are turned away by ads unless they are outrageous.
