..has now been launched.

It looks really good in my opinion. I haven't installed it to see what's up, but it looks great. Before, I found it a necessity to start with a vBulletin forum, but now I wouldn't mind starting with phpBB and later upgrading. Heck, I might even leave it.

The reason I like it is because it looks very modern, and customizable.

They still don't beat VB :] but their good enought considering the fact that it's open source..

That's really great to see new phpBB 3 released, i was waiting for long time, i was thinking of moving to vBulletin as it take long time, i have not done because i don't get time. Now time for upgrading to phpBB 3 :-)

Finally, they've been working on this for so long. It seems their site is down or something, but is this like a release candidate or is it the real deal?

That could be like saying I see green on this template but not on Sitepoint, that is a custom template. I am not talking about a custom template, because obviously any custom template could be tables, I am talking about the default template

.... that is the phpBB3 default template. When phpBB3 goes Gold it will be with that template....

I remember seeing the alpha of 3.0 somewhere over a year ago, it looks a lot different now though and I can't say I like the new (or old) look.
