Lots of people register since they think it would give them more access to all kinds of features. Many don't post for quite some time since they are afraid they'll be laughed at or worse. This is why the mods and admin need to establish a VERY friendly community so that people have the courage to write that first post.

they might be a bot or the threads in your forum is not interesting or you have few threads in your forum...

I agree with this, some people have a very short attention span. They register and are interested at the time they register and then the next day they have second thoughts for whatever reason. People just move on.... I have noticed this myself.
