My community (first one I ever ran) is about my town. It has several members but really isn't anything yet. Recently I have come across some 16mm films of home video of some interesting things in the town. One is an flight over the town, many many years ago. The other is home video taken when a school in the town burned down, while there were still firefighters at the scene.

My questions is, how is my best way to use these (i already have permission) to promote my site. My first thought was youtube, with a title screen with my url, ending screen with my url, and a tag during the clip itself. On a second though though, people who find it interesting may just say "go to you tube and search for whatever". So now I am wondering if I should not use youtube to gain traffic and host the videos on my site so people could come to my site to view them. Then, how do people know about the videos (on youtube they would probably be found by people searching the towns name).

If you put them on youtube it would be very difficult to get the traffic from there straight to ur site, you could use youtube to store the video for you and

Create a whole page with relevant content on ur website talking about the footage and use the embed code from you tube and insert it onto ur page.

Thats just at first thought, im sure others will come up with better ideas.

Thanks, that is exactly what I had in mind. Nice well SEOd pages with embedded videos. I get free hosting and exposure . LN, a medium sized town in PA.
