there can't be a "best" online community. each are unique in their own way. you need to decide for yourself what you want in an online community and then go find one. I guarantee there are hundreds of forums talking about your favorite topic.
forums it is for me, then social networks and bookmarks are the next ones.. the good thing about forums for me is that you can advertise in it, gain backlinks, very small though, and you can learn and interact and have fun with the members.

Thats why I prefer forums over the likes of myspace and other social networking sites. Forums are much more community based, and having a good team of moderaters in place generally helps keep the spam right down to a minimum too - always a good thing.
Should i mention here, that i will not say my forums is best one, I know after visiting and joining it you will say yourself... "It is the best one"
Don't believe ... Come on to my Health Discussion Board but it is just new and waiting for some hard working

The internet would suck without forums
I agree... not only do Forum moderators keep spam down but make sure people stay mature while myspace, facebook, etc have immature bags of douche saying #$%#$% #%@#%$ @#%$ @#%$@ %@#$% #$%@#$% without making any sense but think they are cool.
Best, would be hard to define unless you break it down.

I dont like over moderation of forums though. The problem with networking sites is that they are fads, first myspace, then facebook, now twitter, they dont have very long shelf lives.
I would say the best online probably hasn't been written yet, and we probably haven't even seen all the tools yet, that would go into it. Having forums is a small part of a online
community as are myspace/facebook style homepages. Should a online community be walled and not have other services or should it integrate with peoples blogs an other activity. Please post what you think might to into an idea communtiy.
Besides Webmaster-talk (), I vote for DP and Submitexpress forums. They are good online communities for SEO experts.
Surely you jest? DP a good community for SEO? Have you not noticed how many SEO experts avoid that place? It has become Digital Pointless and is full of misinformation from SEO kiddies and scammers.
