Hey Guys,

Which one is the better networking site for branding and promotion purpose? Facebook or Myspace?

What are your opinions?

They both have there benefits.. Use Both
Myspace is better for the younger generation though
Facebook has a larger older audience.
I think 60% of it is single moms i swear down.

I stick with Facebook. No statistics or any real reason, except the flashiness of MySpace profiles drives me crazy. Occasionally, I will post a bulletin or two.

I prefer facebook because it dominates more than myspace now.

But if you may choose both, I guess it is much better.

MySpace is generally for the younger generation and Facebook is mostly for the over 30s, but it depends on your target.

In my opinion id pick Facebook.

as chrihirst says whats your demographic. if you are talking about branding you really need to make sure you are positioned on a network which fits your target market.

I cannot say anything about myspace as really only focused on facebook and Twitter which works well then again my goals are more about increasing awareness and driving sales.

I think the demographic difference is tied in to what your product or service is, too.
Maybe for more professional or business-oriented products, facebook.

Both networks are good but, I personally prefer FaceBook over MySpace. I don't like the MySpace profiles that have all that .gif flashy stuff on it. Simple and direct is almost better at times.

Facebook has more users than MySpace. But the new Facebook interface is crap.

I belong to myspace because I've had it since Jr. High, notice how I said belong rather than use.

I really don't have a use for either considering I'd rather talk to my friends via cell phone and I don't believe in picking women up from the internet. On the advertising side of things, correct me if I'm wrong I don't think it neccessarily helps unless your business is movies, music or games... Atleast at myspace. If facebook is truly an older audience I could see it being useful.

As per my view you can use both site for getting traffic both have many visitors so if you have time than do promotion in both networking site. Else i like face book more than Myspace.

Just compare the statistics, and you'll see facebook increasing and myspace decreasing:

But there's no reason not to use all available channels...especially if you're target a wide range of markets / demographics.

I definitely recommend for you the Facebook instead the using of Myspace. According to my experience the administrators of Myspace are abusers.

I know there are people who are successful using Facebook for marketing, but to be honest I can't picture myself using it for that purpose, expect maybe to promote my blog articles. I'm "friends" with real-life friends, so I know that they wouldn't appreciate it if I used my accountant to that aim.

And I'm not on MySpace, so I don't have insight into those possiblities, but it seems to me that popularity is dropping.

I cant even use myspace, and they are always altering it and making it even harder to use lol !
