Hi

I have been using the 'suggest friends' option on my FB fan page. What should happen, when a request has been sent, is that the photo is grayed out, so you can't ask them again. Having sent a batch of requests, I have several times noticed that some photos were not grayed out, and thought I'd somehow not highlighted them and so sent again.

On other occasions, I have noticed that friends who had been invited, and which HAD been grayed out, have somehow become ungrayed out again the next day. This means that I have no reliable way of knowing if I have really invited someone or not, and creates the danger that I might irritate them by asking them multiple times.

Any idea what may be happening here? I'm using FF3. I note that there is some degree of browser difference, because in FF3, the friends are listed in alphabetical order, whereas in Chrome they are in apparently random order.

Sure, heres how the Suggest Friends in FaceBook works.

Normal- They have not been invited or have denied the invite.

Grayed Out- They have not yet approved or denied the invite.

Always Grayed out- They have blocked either your group or all group invites.

Does this help explain it a little better?

Thanks for explaining that. So it does indeed open up the possibility that you could unwittingly irritate someone by sending an invitation more than once. I would have thought that a person should remain grayed out once an invitation had been sent, at least for say 6 months, so that there could be no such problem.

This feature would be handy, but it has not been implemented yet.
