hen I someone uses blog commenting to help with their seo.

Do you put your keyword in the hyperlink text like<a href=wwww>

or do you put your keyword as your name of the person commenting on the post?

Also, do you need to ping you backlinks or will they get indexed later on in the future?

you put it in the name section of the comment and no, you dont need to ping it as it will get indexed in time

Usually people use their names in blog commenting. It depends on the type of blog you are dealing with. See if the blog allows keywords in anchor text.

I usually type the name as the keyword that I try to rank for. many of the blogs out there doesnt allow links in their comments. So give it in your name, read the whole blog and comment wisely, as you want to get your comment approved.
