I typically get an email stating that someone has begun following me.

Tweets 2,634 - Following *7,226 - Followers 8,043 - Listed 262

Why the heck should I want to be follower 8,044 ??
Why the heck does this Twitterer want to follow me 7,227 ??
If I were a search engine I would discount all this fluff or am I missing something here.

Twitter fluff? Yep just like most of it is.

bots following bots following bots. One day, with any luck, the whole thing will create an implosion and it will disappear up it's own backside.

And when that day comes, Twitter will tweet about itself being sucked into oblivion.

Search engines DO discount all this twitter fluff.
Twitter has nothing to do with search engine rankings and never will. It's about creating a network of the likeminded in the same way a forum is supposed to.

Seriously I can see the value of Twitter as a valuable networking forum in a lot of areas but it could work so much better without the nonsense.
My latest follower: * 14,990Tweets * 53,470Following * 91,179Followers

You can choose who you follow and you can also only let people whom you approve follow your tweets. Just go to your settings and change the privacy

I guess it depends on who your audience is. I know some people that will automatically follow others if they have a lot of followers. They just need to fit in.

if those followers are bots its useless, it won't a lot it should be real people that you can interact and get sales.

I expect that many people who chase large numbers of followers will reach puberty eventually and then find other ways to compare ***** size.

I see absolutely no value in being followed by someone who is following thousands of others. Seems meaningless.

Well, it's not true, many people follow thousands of people and they get more follwers at the same time. Only if they are not robots it will be fine.

If you are not that satisfied you always have the free will to delete them as your followers.

It's NOT whether they can be removed or not.

It is the crass STUPIDITY of someone considering they must be "important" because they have 8,000+ "followers"!

Talk about having their head firmly up their rectal orifice!!!!!

These kind of people should realise that 50,000+ flies will follow the stench trail of a decaying carcass or a piece of sh turd.
THAT might help them see where they are in the Internet "food chain"

Ignore it, I guess. I mean, it doesn't hurt you whether they brag about followers one way or the other.

I only have 14 followers....

But then again, I only really use it to communicate with real people that I know...!

* edit , when I checked, a few of the seem to be bots! *
