yes, based on my experience, social bookmarking is the great link building avenue that helps me get back links and more traffics from my website. It ranks me number one in google serps.

digg is more powerful cause when you search your backlink list then you will find digg backlinks first. Digg backlinks contain high seo value.

Just because they appear "first" in a random list of "backlinks" does NOT mean they are "important".

I actual fact, search engines, Google especially, are more likely to show the links that DON'T count, because if you know the ones that do, it becomes much simpler to subvert the ranking algorithm by getting more of them.

The most important thing in social bookmarking sites are their PR and it should be do follow. Only those sites are useful which have high PR and allow your links as do follow. There are many sites or lists of sites but not all are so useful.

We get traffic from SEs and other sources than SEs. Today only SEs do not provide traffic there are many websites that get more traffic from other sources than SEs.

For example if we are talking about Social Bookmarking Sites. Lets take an example of Digg for instance.

Someone chooses a post "10 Celebrity Surgery Disasters" and put that into the Newsroom "Entertainment" and discussion-room "Lady Gaga" etc.

Now, if the post is good they put it on the front page of discussion room or it stays on the digger's profile. The more diggs can make the post stay more in the discussion room on frontpage.
Whoever reads the post visits the relevant source for sure.
The PR has very least to do for the link submitter as long as the link/posts can make to the top front page of Social Bookmarking Site like Digg etc.
