As many of you know Google has recently launched their very own social network called Google+. I would love to hear your thoughts about it. Will this bb a Facebook Killer?

Here are my thoughts:

Google+ is visually very appealing and designed very well. Everything works seamlessly and the dragging on friends is very smooth. I love the concept of circles. Google+ seems to be centered around circles which differentiates it from facebook.

Circles allows users to control exactly what content they want to consume and exactly who they are sharing their content too. I think this is great.

I really love hangouts and have tried it a few times. It is well thought out and is great for small social groups and niche group of peoples interested in particular things.

Overall I think Google+ has the legs to be a facebook killer however all it needs now is people.

Who received Google+ invite?

I received an invite to Google+ and I'm curious to get feedback. Hope you get to share the feel of it. User experience anyone?

I haven't joined so I can't offer feedback based on use, but from what I've seen and read it looks pretty good. Assuming enough people join it does have the potential to challenge Facebook.

It looks like for a change Google has launched a social network that has the potential to last past the initial buzz. Whether or not it becomes something more than early adopters remains to be seen.

You may not need an invite at this point. When I go the the Google+ home page I've been seeing a message to sign in with my Google account. I don't think everyone is seeing that and it may not be there all the time, but you don't necessarily need an invite to join.

Havent really looked at it.
Dont really care about it.

I honestly just don't do Social networking.
I have more fun down the pub with the lads and laddesses

Everyone needs an invite at the moment, to try it out. Once you log-in with your gMail, you'll see :

It also doesn't really interest me to take a full look of it. I can ask a few people to send me an invite, but I have no interest in it, at the moment. I prefer to wait until it's fully public.

Yep. My bad. I wasn't logged into anything Google when I posted the above. I was seeing a button telling me to log in with my Google account, which I thought meant I could gain access to Plus. When I eventually did login I saw exactly what you posted.

Guess those who want to join will still need to wait. I'm guessing it won't be too long though.

I'm still trying to make my mind about it, but I've only been using it for a few hours. There are certain features I like, such as sharing things with certain friends, but then none of my personal friends have signed up.

I just got in on Google + and I found it cool! I like it's interface it's easy to add and categorize your friends list or google + called it Circle...I might just keep on doing some checking on it for a couple of days..

It looks interesting. I'm not a huge social networker but, I'll give it a fair shake.

Google+ has many tricks.

One good thing about Google Plus is that you don't need apps (Google plus does not allow any third party access of its API) to share your Google+ *stream on Facebook.

First, create a new circle in your G+ profile and add your Facebook mobile upload email in the circle.

Simply add that circle when sharing any post from the Google plus stream.

Why would someone do this?
We must remember that Google Plus social network is not available yet to everyone. So those who got Google+ would want to keep their Facebook friends updated.

(*stream is your news feed on Facebook where you post your status updates)

I don't have any idea about Google +1, yes I know what it is. And I think it will fail, as we have to sign up every time we invite or add +1...

Good to know. There have been so many people complaining that they couldn't join it seemed silly for Google to keep them out. They do need to grow Google+ before it really means anything.

You have to keep in mind that it's still "beta" and they need to be able to predict how to grow it.

It hit 10 million users in less than 2 weeks. They actually ran out of storage space and blocked invites from working for a little bit.

It really makes a lot of sense to limit the number of users while the bugs and scalability get worked out. Remember, GMail was invite only when it was first released too.

Aren't all Google products still in "beta"

I think Google made the word beta irrelevant. Gmail was still beta long after it was no longer a beta product. If I'm not mistaken there is no beta label on Plus. It's in super secret limited testing mode or something. I don't think Google can ever use the word beta again to mean what it's supposed to mean.

I do get the need to limit users while working out bugs, though one would think Google has more than enough server power and brain power to scale the system. I have a feeling the limited rollout has more to do with the poor reception of how Buzz was rolled out. Google pretty much killed Buzz the day they released it by being a little too open with it.

The thing with Google+ or any social network is more people adds more value (at least early on) so they have to balance the issue of bugs and growing too fast with not growing fast enough so people can actually network.

It's an interesting problem and one I think Google is handling pretty well with Plus.
