Hi!The other day I've installed MyWot add-on for Firefox. I was just surfing around the web and received some warnings about bad reputation web-sites. The interesting thing is that some of those "bad reputation" web-sites were quite user-friendly, safe and absolutely fine for children to view.
I wondered if that system works fine, and here's what I've found:

There's a strong opposition to MyWot's ratings. Arguments look pretty valid, as MyWot's evaluation system really has some serious errors.
What do you think about it? Is it worth considering reputation indexes provided by MyWot?

I put this in the same category as movie critic reviews, they tell you the movie is not worth seeing, but you go and enjoy the movie. No I wouldn't install the add-on, I prefer to see for myself, but other people might think it's great. The information is based on what other users think and your opinion could be lot different on reputation, etc.

They seem to be very ambitious about what they do - browser add-ons, facebook deal & 27 millions of users I afraid that MyWot could turn to a Big Brother that will endorse or close down businesses by defining their reputations through it's network of users

You provided four links that have a different opinion of MyWot, but there again more reviews and opinions on the negative side. So what or who do you believe, one can only stay neutral on a website and form your own opinion on their reputation.

I couldn't agree with you more with innocent businesses being closed down by a network of users giving negative opinions on a website or blog.

MyWot runs an extortion scheme on many freelance sites. They charge businesses like $2k-$3k per rating lol

This is getting out of control and it's totally ridiculous. It's a class action lawsuit in the making.

Couldn't have put it better myself. There is quite a lot of junk written by some, I guess simply to ruin reputations of competitors.

MyWOT is seriously messing with businesses from anywhere with any reputation. 90% of the ratings seem to be made by a group of users. Their comments look like a template and mostly negative. They claim that rates are made based on a huge number of votes but that's pure lie. Powered users rating weigh is way higher than a normal user. So let's make some users there and rate until we are powered user and Voilaaa, we can screw anyone's reputations. Oh yeah, if they pay us, we remove our bad ratings. Good business isn't it ?

I guess geeks can make loads of money on MyWOT (Web of SCAM).

Bottom line, you are right, mywot should not be trusted as it's filled with biased ratings.
