i am starting a local niche directory and would like some input from you guys.just wondering what you look for when submitting to directories . conversions?,traffic? pr? etc..,

I look for PR. Most of the times directories get expired. A directory with some PR will remain live and your link will also have some worth in it.

I don't worry too much about PR because a 0 PR directory today may be a PR 5 later on. Plus, it is too hard to get listed in high PR directories. A lot of links in PR 0 and 1 directories will beat 0 links in high PR directories.

For me the important things are that the directory isn't accepting spam and it's nice when a reciprocal link is not a requirement. I know this makes it harder to build PR but Google frowns on reciprocal links anyway.

I have a niche directory and I get a lot of nonrelated submissions. Don't feel tempted to build up your links by accepting sites that don't fit the niche.
