Just interested - what directories do people think are actually worth paying for a listing in. With so many apparently being hit by G recently I wonder how many are left that provide value for their paid listings.

i normally dont pay for listing in directories.
i prefer getting paid to list in other related sites.

but for some exceptionally good directories i ave paid.
and for these good dirs, i go to 123promotion.co.uk's directory submission manager.

lists out almost all the good dirs, both free and paid and gives a lil info as well.

check that out if u want.

I pay if the price is right. I think $5.00 for a permanent link is well worth it if the link goes to a good spot.

I would never pay for links. I would sell them, but not pay lol.

I dont see the point in paying for a link on a pr 5 or 6 site when you could get linked to from higher pr sites for free just by having good content.

I'm firmly in the camp of taking both too. I suppose the big obvious ones are Yahoo and the Microsoft small business directory. Anyone got other good tips?

Hello,

Try Web Directory

They have good PR and are listed often too. Once I submitted my site to a correct catalogue I could find my site with google, no luck earlier

In my opinion it is worth paying some reasonable fee if it brings googlebot and people to your site, especially when you are starting. When your site has good PR then you can exchange for free or even be paid for links. Everybody start from the bottom on their way to top...
