I recently purchased Web Directory List. There are a few things I wanted to mention.
As you can see, it has been moved over to my custom script with categories. The original site did not have categories (was alphabetical). If anyone truly feels their listing is in the wrong category, let me know.
No offense to submitters, but the descriptions that were there were quite bad. I think a lot of it had to do with the character length limitations and confusion with the two lines method the original script used. So, I spend a lot of the day yesterday re-writing every description. I tried to incorporate information from the original descriptions as much as possible, and confirmed changes, etc. Again, if there are any corrections, let me know.
All listings that were on the site before I purchased it have been manually re-entered into the directory, and have the exact same bid amounts as they did before.
The goal of the site now is to be a quality resource for web directories and directory-related sites. This will be the list I use first when submitting new listings, for example. One thing I like about the bid concept is that it helps show which directory owners invest into their directories and promote them. So, they should be pretty much sorted that way, which makes for a good list when submitting, in addition to Jeff's excellent run-down, of course.
The site was PR3 when I bought it (looks like it is moving to PR4 with this new PR update). Promotion is now beginning on the site, though. Expect to see good things for it in the future. It should develop into a quality resource offering strong backlinks in the near future. I suspect it will be PR6 or 7 with the next update.
If anyone has any questions or comments, feel free to let me know.
