What can be done regarding the link dropping, multiple posting spammers. stealthiss just joined and made the same 3 posts in 3 forums, and link dropped in around 8 more. I had already reported another triple poster today. There needs to be some way to prevent this.

I feel the same. Sadly at the moment, there isn't that much that can actually be done. Just keep up reporting it and I'm sure the mods will delete it

Yep I regularly report posts - its way faster than creating a thread about a particular spammer or his rule flouting

Look guys.. as mods we DO have lives, we can't spend 24/7 here. Just keep up the reporting. This is hardly a problem unique to WMT, it happens in every forum I participate in and those I'm a mod in.

Sorry LadynRed. It wasn't a personal attack at all and the Mods do a very good job overall and are very committed. I was thinking of a more automatic way of some sort to combat this, although that would be complicated.

I appreciate what the mods do and I haven't got anything against them at all

I agree the mods are doing a great job. And I, and I'm sure all realize, you do have lives. I just can't believe there are so many spammers.

Unfortunately they are the bane of free public forums.. and the script-kiddies find more ways every day to get in with bots etc. Have you ever visited an UNmoderated forum ... talk about a nightmare !

Definitely keep reporting them! I wish more members would report the junk when they find them.

We try not to give the Mods much daylight, but we have to let them have some. However, the SMods only get about 5 minutes to look out a window per day!

So true! The bots may not get in, but once a real person gets an account, they go nuts. The crazy thing is that more and more forum members are starting to recognize the script-kiddies and not pay attention to them by clicking on the links. And since members are reporting them, all those link drops and junk are not doing them any good. It seems the longest that they may get is a day for their junk links; then they're all wiped out all over the forum.

But life goes on....

And, we just made a couple more Mods, not just for Spam Cops, but other help too!

Dave
